This episode was recorded back over the summer of 2021 while Adrianne was unemployed and unlicensed in Minnesota. She was able to get Amie and Sara of the Gritty Nurse podcast on the line (they’ve had a busy busy summer) to answer all her questions. Their focus is on Amie and Sara’s activism in their home country of Canada, pushing for safety and respect for nurses. They have created spaces for nurses in forums that had no nurses at the table and they’re going to talk about how they did it.

She recounts her surreal experience being diagnosed with breast cancer just as COVID was causing the overwhelm and shutdown of healthcare facilities across the country in early 2020. She takes us through the timeline of her treatment, surgeries and complications very openly, candidly, and with just enough humor to keep us from losing our composure.
